Conventional packed bed scrubbers use packing material to provide a
large surface area for liquid-particle contact. The air moves up
through the packing, allowing the scrubber to absorb or react with
the contaminants. Whereas Whirler CBE
(
) use tangential admission of the Flue gas at higher velocities,
creating smaller contact bubbles and drops resulting in higher
contact surface area. This increased contact area and time between
the gas and liquid phases is responsible for:

The CBU is designed with space optimization in mind. Even with similar output, CBU units are notably more compact than other alternatives. For instance, a CBU with a gas output of 50,000 m3/hour features dimensions of just 2,100 mm in diameter and 4,100 mm in height, with a weight of approximately 2,100 kg.
